Smartmatic earns recognition from JBoss for Innovation
Atlanta, United States - April 25, 2006 - JBoss announced the winners of its inaugural Innovation Awards today, and Smartmatic was among the companies honored. In the category of Business Process Management, Smartmatic received recognition for its use of the JBoss application server as the application environment for the development of an Election Management System (EMS) and a Real-Time Electoral Information System (REIS).
JBoss, Inc., the Professional Open Source Company, selected the winners of the inaugural JBoss Innovation Awards out of 11 categories based upon their use of the JBoss Enterprise Middleware Suite (JEMS) to improve business processes, overcome technology challenges and enhance their organizations' bottom lines. Nominees for the award included JBoss users, customers and partners from around the world.
The JBoss Innovation Awards were made in 11 categories: Return on Investment; Migration; Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA); Portal; Clustering; Persistence; New Generation; Core Infrastructure; Certified Service Provider; Certified Solution Provider and Business Process Management.
In addition to Smartmatic, the honorees in the Business Process Management category were the Met@logo project (an eGovernment project with 14 partners in 10 different countries) which won the top recognition in the category, and the RUNA Consulting Group from Russia.

Rex Fuqua Distinguished Chair for Internet Strategy, University of Georgia. "The JBoss Innovation Awards highlight a few of the best. We recognize and congratulate the individuals behind these projects for their remarkable skill and technical achievements".
Category winners will be recognized at a ceremony during JBoss World 2006, the largest gathering of the JBoss community worldwide, at the Rio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas on June 15. During the conference, attendees will vote among category winners for the JBoss Innovator of the Year, who will be revealed, live at the ceremony.
Companies such as Appear Networks AB (Sweden), Vodafone (Netherlands), Compucredit Corporation (USA); Fiserv, Inc. - GalaxyPlus Credit Union Systems (USA), Ready Technology Limited (United Kingdom), DataDirect Technologies (USA) and Quest Software, Inc. (USA), are among the 2006 honorees.
