United States, Boca Raton – June 15, 2020 – In the context of the current COVID-19 pandemic, administering elections is more challenging than ever. The safety of in-person voters, election staff, volunteers and other election stakeholders is paramount. Transitioning entirely to mail-in elections is logistically impossible, and millions of voters will cast ballots in person in 2020 and beyond. Auburn University’s Election Administration Initiative will host a webinar that will look at science-based strategies for safer in-person voting.
The webinar will feature Drs. Kathleen Hale and Mitchell Brown of Auburn University, election technology expert Ed Smith of Smartmatic, and founder Michael Diamond of The Infection Prevention Strategy (TIPS), a global health nonprofit active in preventing the spread of infectious disease. The event will include a 30-minute moderated discussion followed by a 30-minute audience Q&A session.
The webinar is free and is geared for Secretaries of State, elections officials and administrators, and other government officials that have a role in election events. The event is limited to 500 participants on a first come, first-served basis.
