United States: Innovation helping 35 million voters in more than 50 elections
During the 2005 and 2006 election cycles, Smartmatic, through its subsidiary in the US, Sequoia Voting Systems, sold some 60,000 voting devices and provided support services to more than 300 jurisdictions in Arizona, California, Colorado, District of Columbia, Florida, Illinois, Louisiana, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, Nevada, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin. Almost two years after the acquisition, Smartmatic sold Sequoia Voting Systems.
Some years later Smartmatic provided some of its most innovative technology like the ePen and online voting in California, Utah and Virginia within the framework of the 2016 General Elections.
The company signed the largest election contract in US history in 2018. Los Angeles County, having designed a completely new voting system, engaged Smartmatic for systems integration, engineering, and manufacturing of Voting Solutions for All People (VSAP). Los Angeles County voters will start using this new voting system in the 2020 elections. Election officials cited Smartmatic’s unparalleled experience in providing secure, advanced election technology and services to election commissions throughout the world as the primary reason for choosing Smartmatic as their VSAP partner.
