Smartmatic Sponsors LA Chamber of Commerce at Access Sacramento

United States - April 20, 2022 - As a key provider of election infrastructure in Los Angeles, Smartmatic proudly supported the county as a sponsor for Access Sacramento. Smartmatic’s Engagement Director Daniel Murphy introduced California’s Secretary of State Shirly Weber for a breakfast session with key government officials and stakeholders. The event took place April 20.

“Dr. Weber has prioritized strengthening and expanding the successful reforms from the 2020 election that drove historic levels of turnout across California and gave voters from every community the options that enabled them to participate in the election safely,” said Murphy. “She believes that increased transparency in our electoral systems, as well as lobbyist registration, and campaign finance systems is vital to enable all voters to make an informed decision about what issues, causes, or candidates to support.”

Murphy is an elections expert specializing in electoral administration, equipment development and manufacturing, poll worker training and recruitment, election law compliance, polling place accessibility, and project management. In his career has served as an Election Programs Coordinator for the Los Angeles County Registrar Recorder/County Clerk, the largest election jurisdiction in the United States. He has also worked for the US EAC and several election-related NGOs. Murphy is a graduate of American University (Washington, DC) with a B.A. in International Studies.
