In June 2018, Smartmatic was awarded the contract by the Registrar-Recorder County Clerk of Los Angeles County to develop, manufacture, certify and implement the county’s new system in time for the 2020 election cycle.
Los Angeles County is the largest voting jurisdiction in the US. The human-centered VSAP voting solution modernizes the way Los Angeles County voters cast their ballots. The new system makes it easier for voters with disabilities and those with limited English proficiency to cast a ballot more easily than before. The machine features a vote tally system, developed, owned and operated by the county.
LA County’s new voting system was deployed for the first time during the March 2020 presidential primary election. Check here for the latest update.
