Election administrators in the UK test Smartmatic technology
Smartmatic presented its advanced technology to election experts and administrators from the United Kingdom during the annual National Conference of the Association of Electoral Administrators (AEA) held in Blackpool, United Kingdom.
According to Sonya Anderson, Smartmatic’s representative for the UK, “This is a unique annual event which brings together many of the key stakeholders involved in the delivery of the UK elections. In Blackpool we saw electoral administrators from many of the 418 UK local authorities, Returning Officers, the Electoral Commission, Central Government, elected ministers and suppliers from the industry.”
During the conference, Smartmatic played an active role offering its VIU-500 to register their attendance at the workshops. Attendees showed special interest in how this and other Smartmatic technologies can offer meaningful solutions to the most pressing challenges facing elections in the United Kingdom. "The general opinion is that the technology could be used in UK local elections to increase efficiency, speed, accuracy and accessibility of voting and counting," added Anderson.
In addition to the registration devices, Smartmatic showcased its electronic voting machines, online voting solution, electronic voter registration, voter accessibility and online training tools.
