Ensure election continuity with our risk-mitigation portfolio

Smartmatic has expanded its risk-mitigation portfolio, refocusing it on​ election continuity during the COVID-19 crisis. 

Election officials dealing with the unique challenges of the COVID-19 crisis have two main priorities.

1. Conduct secure and accessible elections as scheduled.
2. Minimize the risk of coronavirus spread among voters and election workers. ​

Smartmatic recognizes that election management bodies may not be able to drastically adjust their voting methods for their next election. The best course of action may be to focus on finding an appropriate balance between scaling up manual elections, online ballot delivery, and online voting while minimizing the risks during in-person voting.

Our election continuity solution includes integrated services and technologies and consists of three programs.

1. Safe In-Person Voting

Smartmatic assists with mitigating the risk of infection of coronavirus spread in polling places. Working closely together with infectious disease experts, we take a holistic approach assessing all election processes, procedures and communications using our election-process design methodology to help you mitigate the risk of infection based on science.

2. Safe At-Home Voting

When in-person voting is not an option, we help bring the ballot to the voter with an additional accessible voting channel. Our secure Safe At-Home Voting platform enables voters to access their ballot from the safety of their home via smartphone, tablet or computer.

3. Safe Election Worker

This program follows the same approach as Safe In-Person Voting but focuses on mitigating the risk of infection for election workers at other facilities, such as warehouses, tally centers, and help desks.
