Electronic Voting, Next Generation Voting Technology TM
To offer cutting edge technology – that is the essence of Smartmatic’s Electoral Solution. From robust machines to highly efficient software and secure data transmission systems, Smartmatic guarantees the most advanced electoral technology on the market.
4000 Series (SAES-4000, SAES-4200, SAES-4300)
- 100% auditable. Votes are registered in several media, redundant memory.
- Encrypted information with several security levels, 2048 bits algorithms, the latest standards in digital security.
- A printer is integrated to the machine, in order to print out vote receipts, results reports, logs, among others.
- 10.4" screen designed for electoral processes with multiple choices, with a 1024 x 768 VGA resolution.
- Possibility to transmit data in a secure and unidirectional way, via phone or mobile phone, modem, satellite and public and private (Ethernet) IP networks.
- Special module designed for handicapped people. SAES voting machines offer different functions: controls and devices that facilitate the voting process for visually impaired people, a sip-puff interface allows the voter to navigate through the ballot, a Braille system, and ear phones for electors with any visual limitation and easy access for voters in wheelchairs.
SAES-RSA
Biometric identification peripheral device SAES-RSA is a 100% integrable with Smartmatic voting machines, which performs voter identification using biometric personal data.
Some technological advantages include:
- Numeric keypad suitable for voter-related data input, such as his/her ID document number.
- Authenticates the voters at the SAES voting machine.
- Monitors the status of voters which already voted, in order to prevent double voting.
- Activates the voting experience in the SAES machine.
SAES-888
A next-generation touch-based voting machine accommodates a paper ballot, mimicking a traditional voting setup and guaranteeing absolute accuracy.
- Self-contained electronic voting pad with capacity of up to 200 candidates, with built-in printer for paper vote receipts, reports, and logs.
- 100% auditable. Votes are registered in redundant electronic memory and in several different instances.
- Votes encrypted using 256-bit symmetric algorithms.
- Smart card reader for voting session activation.
- Secure data transmission capabilities over secure unidirectional networks (LAN, landline phone, GSM, CDMA, and satellite).
- It provides user feedback through confirmation LEDs per candidate and its integrated LCM screen.
Voting Pad
Among its diverse technological inventions, Smartmatic features a novel device called the VP300A Voting Pad (U.S. Patent No. 7,537,159), which makes easier for the voting authority the task of displaying on a single ballot all the available options of candidates and their political parties to the voters, thus adapting automation to the idiosyncrasy of the voters and enabling them to vote in an easy and quick manner by just pressing on the options of their choice.
The Voting Pad works together with and connected to the voting machine and is configured simultaneously with it, according to the specific requirements of a particular event or election on any given location, as per the guidelines of the voting authority.
Among the additional options offered by Smartmatic is printing paper ballots, if required to do so by law or electoral authority.
