Successful engineering test for Venezuelan Referendum
Caracas, January 27, 2009.- Last January 25, Smartmatic along with CANTV (the national telephone company) and the National Electoral Council (CNE by its acronym in Spanish) successfully carried out the Engineering Test to the technological platform that will be used in the next Venezuelan referendum process.
The activity aimed at testing the well functioning of the transmission equipments and their connectivity. One of the test?s main objectives was the verification process in case there are major failures in the network through which the Referendum data will be transmitted.
The system was tested against blackouts, failures in the datacenter, server's infrastructure and routers from the electoral platform. The results of each test proved to be successful.
Results allowed the CNE to close the device configuring cycle, meaning that the network is ready for the result transmission audit, as well as for the 2009 Constitutional Amendment Referendum.
The test was simultaneously carried out in every Regional Electoral Office in the country. Besides all aspects regarding data transmission were tested and the platform is ready to hold the referendum.
