Smartmatic joins Microsoft's WEP program

Caracas, February 11, 2002.- Microsoft, the world's largest software producer, certified Smartmatic as member of its Windows Embedded Partner (WEP) program, an initiative to further and provide technical assistance to embedded applications developers of applications embedded in Windows operational systems.

In this way, Smartmatic becomes one of the 1,200 certified partners Microsoft has in 55 countries, giving it access to the company's Windows Embedded Marketplace. "This is a way to offer our solutions in a specialized, world-wide market, which is already demanding them", says Alfredo Anzola, VP of Business Development of Smartmatic.

Microsoft Windows Embedded Partner (WEP) is a global strategic program to further and stimulate business opportunities for those partners of the firm that develop solutions certified by Microsoft and based on Windows embedded platforms.

Microsoft makes sure that all its certified partners are properly evaluated and qualified, to guarantee their experience and high quality service. In this sense, due to the high prestige of the producer company and its thorough controls, the WEP program becomes an important reference that is known and recognized worldwide.

Among Smartmatic's solutions that have been marketed through Microsoft's marketplace are its Digital Versatile Controllers (DVC) of electronic devices, the SiES software, which operates on these intelligent devices, and the Smartmatic Platform, which is supported on these elements to make the new device-networking paradigm become a reality.

"Smartmatic is focused on solutions that join devices with any network, and create innovative ways of cooperation between humans, systems and devices (electronic, for monitoring and control)", states the official web site of Microsoft's WEP program.
