Santander-Serfin Bank buys SmartBank

Mexico City, November 06, 2002.- Santander-Serfin, one of the three most important financial groups in Mexico, signed a contract to install SmartBank, the solution developed by Smartmatic for the simultaneous management of security in thousands of branch-offices, regardless of their geographic location.

The Mexican bank, with 1,004 branch-offices in this country, selected Smartmatic's proposal for physical security, after evaluating and comparing the options presented by other important companies around the world, like Siemens-Nixdorf, Lenel, and Andover Control.

"The purchase contract includes the configuration, support, and maintenance of SmartBank, as well as the progressive installation of all its modules, among them the AVTM security and video-surveillance module", says Edgar Zorrilla, VP of Sales of Smartmatic.

He explains: "The Advanced Video Transmission Module (AVTM) uses the latest technology to capture, record and transmit digital video, as well as an alarm report. It is a complete solution for the remote and simultaneous surveillance of multiple bank offices".

With this first installation order of SmartBank in 90 branches, Santander-Serfin Bank, which belongs to Grupo Santander Central Hispano, starts the gradual process to implement its physical security systems, based on Smartmatic's unified device-networking platform.
