Scope

 

For this electoral process Smartmatic provided: 4.000 voting machines, additional to the ones purchased by the electoral power; 12.500 power backup systems to cover the machines at a national level; 450 PC’s and high capacity servers with their licenses for operative systems, database and applications ; 20.000 everlasting licenses for the firmware that works with the voting machines and an everlasting license for the national, regional and municipal tallying software that includes set up and configuration.

Regarding human resources, a large number of people were involved in the process: about 9.000 operators were in charge, at a national level, of the well functioning of the machines in each and every voting center in the country; about 2.000 supervisors at a national level; more tan 1.000 support technicians in charge of the machines and of handling any technical contingency that might come up; 1.000 cars to move throughout the country, some 400 tallying operators at a national level in each of the national, regional and municipal tallying centers set for the elections.

Despite the 1.600 alliance changes (resignations and substitution of candidates) made by the political parties few days before the elections on October 31st, Smartmatic’s electoral platform enabled voters to choose 609 representatives from 7.753 candidates without any technical difficulties. 45 seconds was the average time per elector to cast the vote with the SAES3000 and the electronic ballot, including the 4 seconds that takes to print the voting receipt.
