Regional Elections 2008

Venezuela

The Venezuelan Regional Elections to be held on November 23, 2008, represent a great technical and logistic effort for Smartmatic in its role as audible electoral technology supplier. Voters will have to choose 22 governors, 328 mayors, 233 deputies to the state legislative councils, 8 indigenous deputies to the legislative councils and 13 city councilors to the metropolitan councils; all of it in one day and at a national level.

This is the seventh electoral process held in Venezuela using Smartmatic’s auditable voting technology. Throughout the years we have worked side by side with the National Electoral Council (CNE by its acronym in Spanish), the highest Venezuelan voting authority, to continue with the testing and auditing of the SAES voting equipments, its software, the transmission processes, tallying, electoral adjudication and deployment along Venezuela. In all of these events we have had the approval of all political and technical parties.

In this chart you will find the distribution and the main figures of the project carried out by the CNE with Smartmatic’s support and technical expertise for the 2008 Regional Elections.
