Functions

The technological, financial and management solutions Smartmatic is furnishing to the Transcaribe transit authority comprise a number of advanced systems, including: fare collection using the most innovative and secure smart card platform available; smart card vending machines, smart card sale and top-up outlets distributed in a sizable part of the territory, a real-time fleet management and control system for public transportation units, and plans for an information system for passengers. Summing up, among Smartmatic's functions we have:  

a) Design, supply, implementation, maintenance, support and technological updating of the Fare Collection, and Fleet Management and Control Systems, and of the Support Subsystems for Transcaribe
b) Activities linked to the collection of revenue generated by ticketing in the Transcaribe System.
c) Management of the infrastructure, granted non-exclusively and with the purpose of implementing the above systems (e.g. ticket booths in stations, the back-up servers' room, the operations control room, bus yards and repair shops, etc.).
